The all-new electric MINI E has made it to it's first owner, a California man by the name of Peter Trepp.
Mr Trepp is the first of a few hundred owners in the United States to get to drive the new MINI E. Peter did so by registering online via MINI when it was time for MINI to select possible candidates for the new all electric powered MINI Cooper.
The MINI E is by no means a super fast car but it is no slouch with a note to sixty in just 8.5 seconds. What is great about the vehicle though is that it is a zero emissions car. According to BMW, Mr Trepp will have one full year to test out this new vehicle as the car is on a one year lease. We first reported on the cost of the MINI E lease which rings in at 850 dollars per month.
All MINI E's are accounted for during this years one year lease cycle in the USA.
What does Peter think of handling on the car?
"Here is my simple description of the handling. Lateral motion (e.g. cornering) is much like any well-tuned sports car – tight and fun. However, acceleration and braking are significantly different and require a learning curve to become a smooth driver. From a standstill, you will notice that the electric motor has been “detuned” in order to avoid tire spin at every stop light. Believe me, you can still spin the tires if you want. Once you are above 20 mph or so, however, the MINI E is responsive in ways that you don’t expect. Let me just say that I had some fun with an M3 the other day, and he didn’t have as much fun as I did."
