VW has shown a new concept car at the Detroit Auto Show known as the Compact Coupe. If you look quite quickly at the back end of the car you may see the resemblance to the Audi A5 which is a stylish 40 k plus car from the luxury German brand.
The resemblance to the Audi A5 is a good thing for the new looker concept car from VW. In the US markets this car would be quite hot and a nice stepping stone for those looking for something stylish with German build quality.
Unfortunately there are no confirmed plans to make this car. Tis a shame as I would like to get my hands on such a nice looking V-dub. First no Scirocco and now VW teases us at Detroit with this?
From the performance perspective this car is nothing to get all pumped up about as it is a form of a hybrid.
The Compact Coupe is powered by a "highly efficient 1.4-litre TSI engine developing 150 PS and 177 lbs ft of torque linked to a seven-speed DSG gearbox and an electric motor powered by a lithium ion battery."
That is only good for a note to sixty in the 8.6 seconds. If it was my decision it would come in an R version and be powered by the Scirocco R engine.
Now that is something to get worked up over.
